FAREWELL, GEORGE CARLIN

I saw George Carlin at the Stanley Theater in Utica twice. George got it--and we can ill afford to spare anyone who gets it. His misanthropy in this video is bracing and salubrious. (It contains the "it's a big club--and you're not in it" riff.) The language is pure Carlin, so view at your own discretion.

Regardless of offensive language, truth rings true. We caught his act in Providence Rhode Island many years ago. Then, it was water mellon smashing, etc. but no offensive language.

When George enlightened the public of the truth I wondered how long he would last. Heart attack, maybe, maybe not. We will never know.

Another icon bites the dust. Like Don Quixote in "Man of LaMancha" played by the Capitol Theater Summerstage 16-19 July 2008. Cervantes was strange by "normal" standards of behavior but he saw the truth. I can't say that about many people these days. George Carlin was one of them. He will be missed.

Thanks for the update.

Joseph,

Thanks!

I think George Carlin would have gotten a laugh out of fact that you remember Gallagher as him. (The way George talks here I think he would have done something entirely different--and much more creative--to a watermelon.)

George's ticker had been bad since the early 80s. But that he would have left the stage now (just when everything is hitting the air accelerator in a big way) is deplorable--and gives one pause.

My wife and her sister are going to see "Man of LaMancha." (We just saw "Patience"--they did a beautiful job at the Capitol with the G&S.) I think there are a lot on Don Quixotes involved in 9/11 investigation (and ancillary topics). We're tilting at a lot of windmills that are brought down by controlled demolition (or other suspicious means).

Thanks again--and I'm really glad you're not pasting in Bible verses.

This is really belated, I appologize:

Carlin may have died of a heart attack. But the government is certainly capable of inducing heart attacks in a way that wouldn't appear like murder in an autopsy:
